Programme
We offer a whole Montessori experience and P&J-exclusive programmes for our children. Our classes are mixed-age, where the younger ones learn to work together with older children. Our program starts at 8.15 am and ends at 12.15 pm, and it can be extended until 2.15 pm or 3.45 pm if the children are willing to.
-
The children arrive at 8:15 am to enjoy the playground and connect with friends. When the bell rings, they gather inside to start their work.
They can do the work that the director/directress has presented to them, ask the director/directress for the work they want to learn, or have the director/directress introduce them to a new work they can do in school. Sometimes, the children work by themselves, and other times, they work with their peers.
After three hours, the work cycle ends, and the children gather for circle time to say goodbye.
-
Following the morning program, lunch is offered from 12.15 pm to 1.15 pm, during which students can either opt for the school lunch or bring lunch from home. After lunch, the children may enjoy additional work in Forest School, Maths and Science, Group Solutions, Art, Chinese Immersion, or Total Reading. These works are extensions of the Montessori work and focus on a particular theme. The choice of activities depends on the days that children are enrolled.
Forest School
The Forest School is a school-led forest walk at Windsor Nature Park where children build navigational skills and self-esteem by learning to take risks, collaborate, and create new ways of learning.
Art
Our art program focuses on the process rather than the product. The children learn practical life skills and develop fine motor skills such as cutting, gluing, crayoning, modeling, and painting. These skills allow the children to explore and unleash their creativity freely.
Math and Science
Our maths and science program capitalizes on the children's natural curiosity about the living environment. Through the program, we teach children about ecology, animal defenses, and survival in their natural habitats. These will help children master numeracy and language through their interests.
Group Solutions
Group Solutions are exercises that build logic and inferencing skills, strengthening the child's ability to solve problems. The opportunity to do this as a group enhances communication skills through collaboration and group decision-making.
Chinese Immersion
The Chinese Immersion program uses themes such as cookery, games, performance, culture, and various activities to enhance children's spoken and reading vocabulary. The lessons develop on what the children do in the morning three-hour work cycle.
Total Reading
The total reading program is about appreciating and loving what is being read. This approach ensures that reading is not only what the child wants and chooses to do freely but also the desire to understand the totality of what is being expressed. The program is done through the Montessori Great stories that inspire the child's mind.
Parents may choose at least three extended days up to 5.
-
After the extended day program, the children return to the Montessori shelf activities for another hour. This one hour helps to reinforce and deepen their learning. During this period, the children are quiet and work with greater concentration. In the last half hour, children are given the option of outdoor time or having a snack.
